August 2026 Update

It has been a full on few months in the fireworks industry to say the least. 

USA Trip: 

In June & July this year we traveled to the USA for 3 weeks to visit some of our friends and to strengthen our relationships over there. It was great to see how things are done over there and to spend the 4th of July in such a firework friendly place. This trip was valuable for us and also helps to cement our relationship with both our US friends and our suppliers from Shogun & Vulcan. 

China Update:

On 4th May 2026 there was a terrible accident at a fireworks factory in Hunan province in China. Hunan accounts for over 60% of fireworks production world wide. Since this incident all factories in Hunan have remained closed for over 3 months and have now moved into their annual summer heat ban. The outcome from the closures will not only be felt in the New Zealand fireworks industry but also across the world. Factories are still unsure of when they will be able to reopen and resume production. We are currently in a good position for the upcoming season. 

NFA Update:

Once again we will be travelling to the USA in September for the National Fireworks Association Convention. We do this in partnership with our friends at Shogun & Vulcan Fireworks. It is a great event for networking and building relationships in the industry. It is also a good way for us to stay up to date with the latest news and advances in the industry. 

NZ Fireworks Update:

We are pleased to announce that the New Zealand government has decided NOT to ban retail fireworks. We believe this shows that the government understands that the vast majority of Kiwi's love to celebrate with fireworks in their own backyards and that they do so safely. For many families this is a traditional family event and a great way to spend an evening outside, and get the kids away from their devices. Long may it continue. 

Bad Boy is pleased to say that even with the current situation and struggles in China, we are in a good place this year with firework supply for our customers. We have a very strong relationship with our friends at Shogun & Vulcan Fireworks and once again they have proven they can come through even in a challenging year.
